11 Tailfeather Shaking-est Dancing Bird Videos

>> Thursday, May 28, 2009

Birds can dance! Scientists proved it! And not just drunk scientists. Regular, non-drunk ones, too! Two separate teams of researchers looked at thousands of hours of YouTube videos featuring animals dancing (welcome to the club, scientists). They discovered that, when listening to music, birds with an aptitude for vocal mimicry also showed rhythm and the ability to keep a beat and adjust to tempo changes in songs. Eureka! Science Dancing Birds FTW! In honor of this historic discovery, we are pleased to present our list of the 11 Tailfeather Shaking-est Dancing Bird Videos. Caveat: If you use this list in a scientific study, we get a cut of the grant money.

11. Snowball Gets Down To "Another One Bites The Dust"

Hey look, it's Snowball, everyone's favorite sulphur-crested cockatoo who can dance and is on YouTube! Here Snowball struts his stuff to a Queen classic. Don't mention the Adam-Lambert-joining-Queen rumors, though-- Snowball thinks Freddie Mercury is still alive. Please don't break Snowball's heart.

10. Parrot Leans Like A Cholo

This parrot knows it's the sexiest mofo in the room. Maybe you can teach a parrot to dance, but you know what you can't teach? Self-confidence.

9. Cockatoo Grooves To Red Hot Chili Peppers

Cockatoos love heroin addicts.

8. Tiki Dance

Some birds are such slaves to the rhythm that they'll even dance to the tinny tunes of a strange, plastic cartoon robot. But let's leave Lady Gaga out of this! Ha ha. What?

7. Frostie Shakes A Tailfeather

This clip is a lot like The Blues Brothers, in that John Landis directed both of them.

6. "Mama Mia" Cockatoo

This bird dances better than Christine Baranski.

5. A Night At The Bird Roxbury

<

Sorry, birds. I can't enjoy your bird dance-off, due to my sudden and overwhelming sadness for Chris Kattan.

4. Parrot Dances To Arabic Wedding Song

We don't know what this Arabic wedding song is, but it's easier to handle than the Chicken Dance. Special event DJ services, please take note.

3. Breakdancing Parrot

The YouTube uploader profile says this video is from Qatar. Man, Qatar looks desolate. Except for that breakdancing parrot.

2. Snowball Loves Stevie Nicks

Snowball loves Stevie Nicks. And Stevie Nicks loves cocaine, which is sometimes referred to as "snow", at least on TV. It all comes full circle!

1. TheTrav Does The Bird Flap

Okay, this isn't so much a dancing bird as a bird dance. But still. We totally missed out on the Stank Leg, so we wanted to get out in front of what we suspect will be America's next dance craze. Flap 'em down! Flap 'em down!
